Couple of quick updates...

Busy, busy, busy... I hate packing. Most of my stuff has been shipped off. Now it's just packing the things I will carry home with me. Gotta clean up my room too...

Anyway, here are a couple of quick updates. Not my GT-R though...

Wern Shen has fitted a Top Secret Front Diffuser recently. Looks pretty good.

Funny how it looks a lot thicker than mine.

Wern Shen also decided to spray his cam covers black. Those look very nice. He was lazy to remove the pulley cover so we shall see how the red and black combination holds up in his engine bay.

Fariz's new rims have arrived. They are 18 x 10.5J +15 Volk Racing TE37's in Bronze. Sweet!

Check out the concave of the rims man. Dam, maybe I should have gotten 10.5j too, but I guess it will never be as prominent as the 18's. *laughs*

Sitting on 275 Falken's.

Fariz's (#QX1) White Pearl BNR34 sitting on his new wheels. Fantastic stuff. By the way, he too has fitted a Top Secret Front Diffuser, which he got fitted with Wern Shen.

Goodbye San Francisco...

There will be a lack of updates for a while. I am almost done with school and will be moving back to Kuala Lumpur. Goodbye San Francisco, California. It has been quite an experience...

It won't be an easy task as I have been here for the last 5 years so I have accumulated a lot of stuff over time. Urgh, I hate packing. I don't have much time too as my finals are today, international movers are coming on Monday. Oh God!

I can't wait to get back and finally drive the V-Spec II Nür and finally see the results of the tuning! It should be pretty good...

HKS Safari Patrol

HKS built this 4x4 for a private owner in the middle east. Having HKS tinker with a vehicle, you know it's not going to be your ordinary, run of the mill Nissan Safari Patrol.

Yes, it has 1000ps!

Check out the video of Nobuteru Taniguchi taking it out for a spin.

Mapped.

My brother, Aaron, sent some updates to my email. Looks like the turbines, ecu and injectors have been installed successfully and it has been mapped by Mr. Jun Furukawa who was previously based in A'PEXi, A.P Engineering. Apparently, he was partly involved in the development of the Apexi Power FC.

Here's a short clip Aaron sent me while it was being mapped.

I requested for a tune focusing on response and torque instead of horsepower, with a low boost of 1.2 bar and high boost of 1.5 or 1.6 bar. Unfortunately, according to Mr. Furukawa, the fueling capabilities of my car weren't sufficient enough to support that so I had to settle for 1.3bar instead which is a little disappointing as I have seen many other cars on the net with similar setups without problems achieving what I wanted.

Here's what my power curves looks like from a Hyper Power dynamometer.

Should I be pleased with the results or should I be disappointed?

Little Stiffy?

*laughs* I can understand where all his excitement is coming from. Funny as heck!

Pixar's Tokyo Mater and Disney's Bolt

I went to watch Disney's animated film, Bolt today. I wasn't too keen actually but one reason pushed me to watch it today...

I wanted to catch the premier of Tokyo Mater, a Pixar short story directed by the legend in the industry, John Lasseter. Fantastic stuff. His work never ceases to amaze me! If you're wondering who Mater is, Mater the tow truck is a character from Pixar's animation, Cars.

Mater lands in Tokyo and ends up drifting! Looks like it was inspired by Tokyo Drift.

A couple of clips...

As for Bolt...

I must say, it's a huge improvement from their past work. Having said that, it's probably due to John Lasseter overseeing all of Disney's animated productions now that he has been appointed the chief creative officer for WDA (Walt Disney Animation), meaning effectively, Pixar is helping Disney do decent work.

Bolt is a good but not great film. Disney is heading in the right direction. I loved the opening scene of the puppy in the store. The detail in the art and animation of the portrayal of a puppy was marvelous. Hint of Pixar stuff in there. I'm glad Disney is getting their act together and I hope to see them produce more excellent work from them in future. I mean, they are after all, Disney, once the top innovators in animation.

Five Axis Design Yaris Club

Look at this little thing I spotted at the SEMA Show 2008. *laughs*
It's the Five Axis Design Yaris Club.

Slight power bump from 106 hp to 166 hp from it's 1.5-liter inline four. It's nothing to 'wow' about.

I know! What the .... ?! *laughs*

This little devil has bigger brakes than most sports cars. Greddy six-piston brakes with 282mm rotors. What the heck!

17-inch wheels all round.

So, would you track in this little thing? Hmm...

This little thing was at the SEMA Show 2007 too. Check out 'SEMA 2007: Five Axis Yaris Club' at Autoblog for more pictures.

ACPT Carbon Fiber Propeller Shaft

Woo hoo! After two long months of waiting, this finally arrived from ACPT today.

Advanced Composite Products and Technology (ACPT) is a company that deals with high tech composites for Aerospace, Military, Industrial and Commercial applications. If I'm not mistaken, this is the same company Trust/GReddy use to make their carbon fiber propeller shaft.

So why would I want a carbon fiber propeller shaft you might ask. Well, these propeller shafts weigh 7.0kg, almost half of the normal 13.4kg. This equates to lower rotational mass, much like a lightened flywheel, which allows more of you engine's power to be applied to the ground. There are many other benefits too so go check out their site and find out.

These carbon fiber propeller shafts are made to order so I had to place an order at least 4-6 weeks in advance. There were a couple of hiccups along the way and it was delayed for two and a half months. Something about their batch of shafts weren't passing their quality tests so they had to make new ones. Anyway, it is finally here!

To find out more, visit Advanced Composite Products and Technology (ACPT).

AMS Evolution VIII

Hidden in one of the darker halls at the SEMA Show 2008 was the AMS Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII. So glad it saw it from the corner of my eyes. I first learned of them after viewing a couple of clips over the net. It's best quarter mile run is clocked at 8.42 seconds at 171 mph which is why it is dubbed the worlds fastest Evolution VIII, boasting 1142 All Wheel Horsepower. Madness!

They've really pushed the little 4 pot, 4G63T engines to the next level. Hat's off.

Here are a couple of clips...

HTC Touch HD

Guess what arrived in the mail today...

My HTC Touch HD!

Un-boxing...

Cool huh. Something different. Everyone has an Iphone or 3G Iphone.

Yes, I know I just got the E71.(My previous entry, 'The Packages')

However, the E71 I have is the E71-2 version, which is for USA. Over here in the states, the 3G band is 850/1900 MHz, different from what we use back in Malaysia, which is 900/2100 MHz. So I wouldn't be able to use it to it's full capacity (who am I kidding, I'm just making myself feel better by justifying my purchase).
